چکیده

This paper analyzes a repeated game of prisoner’s dilemma, in which players meet all of their neighbors once, then imitate the neighbors or themselves whoever have the highest total payoffs, and finally make mistakes with small probability at each time period. All the limit states, including cooperation, no-cooperation, and coexistence of both in unperturbed dynamics are first derived. It is then shown that non-cooperation is the unique stochastically stable state of perturbed dynamics. Moreover, the convergence rate to the stochastically stable state is provided. These results imply that cooperation is never a long-run equilibrium under certain local-interaction and imitation dynamics.

Evolutionary Prisoner’s Dilemma Games with One-dimensional Local Interaction and Imitation

In this paper we explore the impact of imitation rules on players’ long-run behaviors in evolutionary prisoner’s dilemma games. All players sit sequentially and equally spaced around a circle. Players are assumed to interact only with their neighbors, and to imitate either their successful neighbors and/or themselves or the successful actions taken by their neighbors and/or themselves. In the i...

Modeling Cooperation between Nodes in Wireless Networks by APD Game

Cooperation is the foundation of many protocols in wireless networks. Without cooperation, the performance of a network significantly decreases. Hence, all nodes in traditional networks are required to cooperate with each other. In this paper, instead of traditional networks, a network of rational and autonomous nodes is considered, which means that each node itself can decide whe...

Conformism and cooperation in a local interaction model

We analyze a local interaction model where agents play a bilateral prisoner’s dilemma game with their neighbors. Agents learn about behavior through payoff-biased imitation of their interaction neighbors (and possibly some agents beyond this set). We find that the Eshel et al. (Am Econ Rev 88:157–179, 1998) result that polymorphic states are stochastically stable in such a setting is not robust...

On the suitability of the 2 x 2 games for studying reciprocal cooperation and kin selection

The 2 x 2 games, in particular the Prisoner’s Dilemma, have been extensively used in studies into reciprocal cooperation and, to a lesser extent, kin selection. This paper examines the suitability of the 2 x 2 games for modelling the evolution of cooperation through reciprocation and kin selection. This examination is not restricted to the Prisoner’s Dilemma, but includes the other non-trivial ...
